Challenger and Chanda Na Kay in Heated Dispute Over Hit Song Ownership “Pwaku Akolwa”
Zambian artist Challenger, well-known as part of the duo Aki Na Popo Pa Zambia, is currently in a heated dispute with fellow artists Chanda Na Kay over the ownership of a trending hit song they collaborated on titled “Pwaku Akolwa“. Recently, in an interview, Challenger claimed that the song was originally his. This claim has sparked controversy, especially after Chanda Na Kay posted a response on their official page.
In their post, Chanda Na Kay explained that Challenger approached them with a song containing explicit content. Wanting to protect their brand, they declined to contribute verses but offered him one of their beats to rewrite a better song. According to Chanda Na Kay, Challenger failed to deliver a new version, so they featured him on one of their tracks instead.
Chanda Na Kay expressed disappointment in Challenger’s claims, stating, “Deep down in his heart, he knows he didn’t write that song – na Lesa Alekumona (God is watching).” They further added that while they wish him well, a truly talented artist can create more hit songs without relying on false claims.
The situation has drawn attention in Zambia’s music industry, with many fans following the unfolding drama. Despite the disagreement, Chanda Na Kay chose to end their statement on a hopeful note, wishing Challenger success if he proves his talent.
This controversy highlights the tensions that can arise in creative collaborations, as both sides assert their version of events. Only time will tell how the dispute will resolve.
